SSAIB announces new PASSPORT certification scheme for firms that provide manned security services
On January 1st 2009, SSAIB launches its PASSPORT certification scheme for firms that provide Security Guarding, Mobile Patrols, Keyholding, Response Services, Door Supervision and CCTV Management and Operations. This scheme has been accredited by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) as meeting the operational requirements for its Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS), and is ideal for firms that wish to achieve or maintain ACS approved status. Publication of ISO 9001:2008 “Quality management systems – Requirements”
Companies holding SSAIB certification for their quality management systems are advised that the 2008 version of BS EN ISO 9001:2008 is now published. The revised standard does not contain any new requirements and it is anticipated that quality management systems which are fully compliant with the 2000 version of the standard will continue to comply or will comply with minor adjustments. VAT Changes to Police URN fees
ACPO (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) have announced that with effect from from 1st December 2008, the URN application fee will be reduced to £44.05 to reflect the reduction in VAT. This is expected to apply until 31st December 2009. For URN applications to Scottish forces, please note that a decision has not yet been notified by ACPO(S), and you should check the situation with the Scottish force concerned.
